Camping Trip

Our first camping trip was a blast. I didn't expect Leah to like it as much. Kelly has been camping already with her youth group. But, it was actually Leah who took walks with me at the park! and she got butterflies to land on her fingers. Of course, Kelly enjoyed it thoroughly as well.

Kelly and Leah at "The little White House" in Palm Springs.

We have been exploring the area that day, but then it started raining. Oh, no, everything is outside at the camp site. We rushed back to "base camp" and actually beat the rain! The rain was moving at 10 mph, and we moved at 70 mph. That made a difference! Trust me.

No one believed it, but we literally "pulled" this tarp from under a tent, slid another tarp underneath that tent, and set up the first bigger tarp as a cover before the rain made it to our side.

This is the day we were leaving and I realized that I have not taken any pictures of that trap cover we've set up. Our very elaborate camp has already been packed and stowed in the vehicle but you can still see the site. Debbie did a great job making a home out of a nothing camp site. We hated to pack up and go home. We wanted to stay for two more days. Next time. What a week end!

Camping at FDR National Park

We're now settled.
This park is very wooded and most enjoyable.
We saw a deer in the morning, Debbie and I, while the girls were still sleeping.

We set up camp pretty quickly, for first timers. Within the hour, both tents were up, the table and chairs set, and the coolers were out. I was ready for a drink, beer or wine, I didn't care.

Now we can really explore around. What a nice park! Beautiful lake, wooded areas with TALL pine trees, you feel like you're camping in nature. The camp site does have bathrooms with showers, unfortunately, I mean fortunately. So, it wasn't totally wild, but close enough.

If you ever go near this place, you owe it to yourself to check it out. The whole area is just beautiful with gorgeous scenery.
I've asked the nice lady at the camp's information desk "if there were one thing you need to see while you're here, what will it be?" She said without hesitation "The Little White House". I didn't expect that answer, but we checked it out, and she was darn right! She knew what she was talking about. Check it out too. Just the video presentation about Frank Delano Roosevelt will make you cry. So touching! How much he loved Georgia and made this place near Warm Springs a lovely retreat.

Enjoy!

How to post a comment

It's always nice to see someone post a comment on your blog. Very few people see this blog so you don't have to worry that it's on the "Internet".
To post a comment, write your comment, verify the "word", then choose "anonymous" for the person posting the comment, unless you already have a gmail account. Do sign your name when you choose "anonymous". That way I don't have to guess who posts a comment by process of elimination. It goes something like this: the Price family has 9 children and 11 and 1/2 of them may check this blog; the Coquerel family has 9 children, and 11 and 1/2 may check this blog. Who, out of the 23 people reading this blog, will write like this???? You get the idea! Sign your name if you want.
Now, you wonder: how do you get 11 and 1/2 people out of 9 children? Good question. Well, the children are married. Some have children also. Especially the Coquerels. They are trying to proliferate because we don't have that many Coquerels in the world! Those children go on the Internet also. Then you have the ones who will go once every 3 months or so. They count for half! There you have it!

Connie's party

Dinner time!
The food was good. Very good: BBQ, hot dogs, veggie plates, salads, deserts, and plenty of snacks. I almost forgot about the Margaritas and Daiquiris.
From left to right George, Georgia, James, Connie, and Melba. And in the middle, the food.
Mama, Andre, and Martha.
Thanks to Connie for inviting us all over!
We had a great time.

Memorial Day weekend at Connie's

Mama and Don chilling at the gazebo.

Don is approaching with a plan. "How can I push this dude in the pool?" He is walking slowly, and quietly. Oops! Cary turned around and walked away just in time. He's been watching his back for all the pranks he pulled that weekend, including pushing someone in the pull.
Hum, I'm now thinking, is he the one who deflated my tire?

This is a cool pool!
Connie has a beautiful backyard by her pool with rose bushes and banana trees. And the pool is just great. I wish we were a closer. We'll be there right now. It's 95 degrees in Macon!

Visit at Connie's

Oooh! I love you too, Sis!
Yeah! Really, blah blah blah...
And the hypopotamus came up stronger!
and I killed the white deer with my carabine! I got it mounted, and it's in my closet! (Where everybody can see it!)
Well, God knows what they're talking about.
Some are cooling off in the beautiful pool. I'm jumping in!
La buena vida! translated, "the good life". Nooo, that's not French, that's Spanish!

Gosh! This happens again. My other pictures did not post. That means I have to do another post for the other pictures which will come up before this post. I wish I could write computer programs. The Fortran and Cobol they teach you in school is totally worthless.

Can you see Kelly?

Can you see her now?

This is not the Verizon Network commercial. This is Kelly's graduation pictures!

Well, she was in the first group of student since she graduated with...honors! Yeah!!!
My pride and joy. Leah is on the same path. Humm, like father, like daughters. What can I say?
