The Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge

Another birder's paradise, the Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge.
We took these pictures a couple of months ago when the chill was still in the air and the fog was visiting the deciduous forests.
This is the only place we've seen the Red-cockaded Woodpecker. We've never seen that bird any place else again. The Piedmont just breathes of birds, all kinds. I believe, this has also been the first place we've been surprised to be surrounded by so many birds. We haven't been in Costa Rica yet though, this is Georgia!.
To make the best of our trip, we took chairs, binoculars, snacks, and a field guide to look up all the birds we see and don't know. That's our best way to learn about birds.
Did you know you could click on any of the pictures in this blog to have a better view? To go back, just click the left pointing arrow at the top left hand side of your screen. Simple.
